Brake Calliper Painting Is It Worth it?

Many cars do not have their callipers painted as a standard. Due to this, they are not protected from rust and corrosion. When purchasing a new car many buyers overlook this area even when fitting new alloy wheels. Adding a splash of colour to those parts of the vehicle can help make them look new and complement the rest of the car’s style.

Why Paint Wheels Callipers

Having your brake callipers/brake drums professionally painted can help prevent rust and corrosion. Over time they do become worn and rusty especially as they are exposed to the elements and brake dust constantly. Brake dust is the worst offender when it comes to collecting road rime and causing problems around the wheel. Iron particles, carbon residue, and friction material etch into parts of the alloy wheel and brake callipers, making the wheel vulnerable to corrosion and causing permanent damage.

Worn and rusty callipers show the age of the car and make the car look tatty, old, and worn out, especially when they can be seen through the alloy wheel spokes. Painting wheel callipers can help increase the value of the vehicle when looking to resell and make the car look smarter. It can also help the longevity of the callipers. Another way of adding extra durability and rust prevention is having them ceramic coated by your favourite car detailer.
