With new cars regularly being released. Many car dealers are keen to bring out their best vehicles. Many feature Diamond Cut wheels. Unfortunately, some models might not have the colour options you want. And change the colour is not as straightforward as it is with a standard wheel.
A single-colour wheel is a bit more straightforward to refurbish and colour change. As you can potentially miss at least 2 stages of wheel refurbishment compared to diamond-cut. And it means the process is a lot faster and easier to do.
What is a Diamond cut wheel refurbishment?
It’s the process of restoring the wheel to look like a factory finish. The process of refurbishment involves the wheel striped of the tyres. Then Acid dipped, washed, sanded and sandblasted. The wheel will then go in for paint and its base colour. Once the wheel has cooled down, we can then put the wheel in our state-of-the-art Diamond Cut Machine.
The Diamond Cut Machine, spins high-speed, putting into the wheel, removing paint where the Diamond Cut edge will lie. Once the wheel has a diamond-cut edge, the wheel will then go back into the oven to be preheated and then painted with lacquer. The lacquer seals the Diamond Cut edge, protecting it from any rusting or oxidisation.
Before putting the tyres back on the alloys that have just been lacquered need cooling down first. Once cooled, the process of putting the tyres back on the freshly Diamond Cut can begin. With the tyres on we can then balance your wheels. Ensuring that they are road safe. The next stage is to securely fit them into your vehicle. Once finished and on your vehicle, we check the bolts. This is done with a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specified setting.
Whenever you have your wheels taken off and put back on your vehicle. Make sure to check the wheel nuts after your first 25 miles. This is due to car vibrations that can loosen the bolts over time. Make sure they are checked and tightened to the manufacturer’s specifications.
How long is the process?
The process itself is a bit slower than just a standard one-coloured wheel. This means we can usually refurbish Diamond Cut your Wheel within 2 to 3 days.
How much is it to Diamond Cut my Wheels?
Our prices for a single diamond-cut refurbishment start from around £100 to around £150. The prices for a full set of 4 wheels can vary from around £400 to £600. If you wanted any special colours or extras, the price can increase, but this is best to be discussed with our sales team.
